Aston Villa are being linked with a raid on Portsmouth for centre-half Sylvain Distin.
Villa Park chief Martin O'Neill is said to have cooled any interest he may have had over Wigan's Titus Bramble as he looks to replace Martin Laursen.
O'Neill has also been linked with the out-of-contract Sol Campbell and now Distin's name is in the frame as well.
Distin has also been linked with Liverpool although nothing has materialised from Anfield.
