Boss slams triple link

Alan Irvine has rubbished reports linking Preston to Dean Leacock, Emad Moteab and non-league striker Tom Denton.

The club were reported to be planning a £500,000 offer for Derby County centre-half Leacock and credited with an interest in Egyptian star Moteab - who almost joined Bristol City last month.

But Irvine told the Lancashire Evening Post: "I just think people are trying to stir the pot."

Last week the Deepdale boss was rumoured to be competing for the signature of tall non-league striker Tom Denton before he opted to join Huddersfield Town.

But Irvine set the record straight there as he and his staff work behind the scenes to bring the right signings in.

"None of them are true." he said.

"At the moment we are working on a number of things, but we are not much nearer as things stand."
