Matthew James could make his Preston debut against Sheffield United at Deepdale after joining on loan from Manchester United.

The 18-year-old England under-20 midfielder has agreed an emergency loan with North End until the end of the season and could face the Blades on Tuesday as boss Darren Ferguson is poised to ring the changes after the 2-0 defeat at Swansea on Saturday.

Defender Neill Collins and winger Ross Wallace were dropped at the Liberty Stadium, while midfielder Richard Chaplow missed out because of a groin injury. However, all three might be back in the team.

Paul Coutts made his debut against the Swans after his move from Peterborough, while winger Keith Treacy made his first start since joining from Blackburn. And both players could feature again with defender Callum Davidson facing a fitness test after suffering with concussion recently.
