Keith Treacy and Paul Coutts could make their Preston debuts for the visit of Barnsley on Tuesday, while Youl Mawene is doubtful.

North End chief Darren Ferguson swooped to sign 21-year-old Blackburn winger Treacy on a two-and-a-half year contract with an option for a third year for an undisclosed fee before Monday's deadline. And 21-year-old midfielder Coutts was snapped up from Peterborough just before the window shut at 5pm.

Both players could now feature in the side to face the Tykes at Deepdale, but Ferguson will have to check on the fitness of Mawene before kick-off. The defender picked up a knock during Saturday's 2-0 home win over Ipswich and was replaced in the second half by Neill Collins, who could stay in the side after scoring in the game.

Skipper Callum Davidson is again doubtful due to a head injury, while winger Paul Parry remains sidelined with a knee problem and midfielder Barry Nicholson is a long-term absentee due to a broken leg.
