North End eye defender swoop

PrestonPreston boss Alan Irvine has spoken of his desire to sign Blackburn defender Eddie Nolan on a permanent basis.

The Republic of Ireland Under-21 skipper is impressing while on loan at Deepdale and the North End boss is already thinking about a more permanent switch.

Nolan is due to stay with Preston until January and Irvine hopes they will be able to make him a permanent member of the squad when the window opens again.

"Eddie is a player we are hoping is going to turn out to be a really good signing for us in the long term," He told the Lancashire Evening Post. "He has an excellent pedigree and he is someone who we would certainly be interested in bringing here full time.

"But he is not one for right now unless the situation demands - he is here on loan with a view to something more permanent if everything works out."
