North End sweating on Davidson

PrestonPreston boss Alan Irvine is awaiting news on Callum Davidson's knee injury which kept him out of the defeat at Watford.

Davidson was set to return to action at Vicarage Road after suspension but a knock kept him in the sidelines.

Irvine told the club's website: "Callum got a bang on his knee again on Friday in training. We thought he was fine and it was only on Saturday morning that he reported he was feeling something, so we went into the game with four defenders."

Irvine has not ruled out a loan swoop if Davidson is facing a spell on the treatment table.

He added: "We need to see how Callum is and even then it depends on the type of quality we could add if we wanted to. We will wait and see how Callum is. By today he could be fine."
