Celtic boss Tony Mowbray has been told he will have to wait to prise PNE star Sean St Ledger away from Deepdale.

St Ledger is being linked with a move away from Deepdale to the Glasgow giants - now managed by ex-West Brom boss Mowbray.

The Celtic boss has been keeping an eagle eye on the 24-year-old defender for quite some time and has been impressed by his recent performances for the Lilywhites.

St Ledger, who joined Preston from Peterborough in 2006, told Celtic fans not to get too excited by the speculation when he stated earlier this summer that he expected to start next season at North End.

He said: "I fully expect to be at Preston when we report back for training on July 1, still learning from Alan Irvine, who is a great manager to play under and be coached by. The speculation doesn't turn my head in any way. I just see what's written in the papers and get on with it."
