Phillips blow for Hoops

QPR's promotion hopes have been dealt another blow with the news winger Matty Phillips could miss the rest of the season.

Phillips suffered an ankle injury just one minute into last weekend's 3-3 draw with Burnley and joins right-back Danny Simpson and striker Charlie Austin on the sidelines.

"Matty's struggling, he's got a few problems with his ankle," said manager Harry Redknapp.

"I think it's quite long term. You'd hope to get him back before the end of the season but whether we will I'm not sure. It's a nasty injury."

Top scorer Austin suffered a dislocated shoulder last month and is also a long-term absentee, but Redknapp revealed he could be back before the end of the campaign.

"With Charlie you wouldn't write him off, he's tough, if there's any chance of anyone getting on with it he will," added Redknapp.

"He played on after he dislocated his shoulder and scored a goal. Not too many people would have done that, but that's Charlie for you. We'll have to wait and see.

"The three lads we've lost are important. Matty gives us pace and power and was playing very well, Charlie was in great form and Danny was an ever-present, he hadn't missed one minute.

"So they are a big loss but it's up to the lads here to pick it up and get on with it."
