Burnley boss Brian Laws is now being linked with QPR centre-half Fitz Hall following the arrival of Leon Cort from Stoke for £1.5m.
Laws has been good to his word after he said following the Bolton defeat he would be doing all he can to strengthen his side - he has already signed Nicky Weaver until the end of the season while defender Cort arrived on Wednesday.
The capture of Hall may well have depended on whether Laws was successful in landing Cort and now he has got the Stoke man it would appear unlikely that he will follow up interest in Hall.
The form of Ryan Shawcross and Abdoulaye Faye, and the arrival of summer signing Robert Huth at Stoke, has led to few first-team chances for their former record signing and he has now opted for Burnley with the fee rising to £2m depending on appearances.
Stoke manager Tony Pulis said: "Leon was an influential figure in the club's promotion triumph and a dependable performer whenever called upon in our first season in the Premier League.
"We would like to thank him for his contribution to that success and wish him all the best in the future with his new club."
