QPR are weighing up a move for Manchester City striker Darius Vassell, who is set to become a free agent.

Vassell has been told he has no future at Eastlands with his contract due to expire and the former England international has been looking for a new club ahead of next season.

The 28-year-old has plenty of admirers in the Championship but Rangers are believed to be leading the race to land him and a deal could be struck in the next few weeks.

The former Aston Villa striker managed 15 appearances in all competitions for City last season and has also been linked with moves to Bolton and Stoke but it's thought a drop down a division to the Championship is a more likely outcome this summer.
