New signing Loic Remy has admitted he never wanted to leave Marseille for QPR because he did not want to be thought of as a failure.

The £10m signing, who netted in the vital win over Southampton at the weekend, had been expected to join Newcastle but the deal was hijacked by the R's and he signed for Harry Redknapp.

The 26-year-old told beIN Sport he did not want to join Newcastle or QPR because he did not want to leave Marseille, after just netting once this season, and be seen as a failure.

"I didn't want to leave as a failure," said Remy,

"I wanted to finish the season there and then go somewhere else. I was taken aback when I saw that the board had made their decision behind my back. When I learned that, I was a little disappointed.

"They told me at the last minute, that saddened me. Things were great with the rest of the squad."
