Former QPR boss Paulo Sousa, sacked by the club under three months ago, has verbally accepted an offer to manage Swansea City.
The Portuguese coach is understood to have shaken hands on a three-year-deal at the Liberty Stadium and will be formally unveiled next week.
Sousa will get a chance for revenge over the Rangers directors who showed him the door for "divulging sensitive information without permission from the club hierarchy" when Swansea entertain QPR on October 3.
Speaking of the appointment Swans chairman Huw Jenkins said: "He will provide Swansea City with a fantastic chance to continue developing and growing over the next few years."
"He's young, bright, enthusiastic and a visionary with extensive knowledge and contacts not only throughout Europe, but world football.
Jenkins added: "Taking into account the development of the football club over the last two-and-a-half years and the image we have portrayed as a footballing side, myself and the board of directors felt it was vital to continue along the same lines.
"It was felt that Paulo Sousa is the right man to do this."
A number of managers were linked to the post including Gary Speed, Gus Poyet and Aidy Boothroyd but Sousa appears to have impressed enough in an interview to secure the top job.
