QPR's Adel Taarabt will not be punished by his club and will be included in the squad for the trip to Old Trafford.
During the week pictures have been published of Taarabt and fellow Morocco international Marouane Chamakh, of Arsenal, smoking a shisha pipe.
Chamakh angered Wenger and was publicly criticised by the Frenchman, but Hughes has taken a lighter stance on his on player, saying that despite him not encouraging the 22-year-old's actions, he will not punish them either.
"I saw the picture," said the QPR manager.
"If you're a professional athlete, you shouldn't really smoke but a lot of players do.
"I think what Adel was doing with his friends was a social activity and that is how he relaxes.
"As with everything in life, if it is done in moderation then it shouldn't have an impact on you.
"But he is a professional athlete so, from my point of view, I wouldn't encourage it."
Hughes has confirmed the former Spurs man will travel with the rest of the squad for the clash with Manchester United, but Djibril Cisse will not, due to suspension. However, the former Manchester City manager willl be hoping returning duo Heidar Helguson and DJ Campbell will be able to fill the void left by the France international.
