Midfielder Barry Ferguson is closing in on a summer switch to Premier League new boys Birmingham from Glasgow Rangers.

The former Gers and Scotland captain has one year left on his current deal with the SPL champions, but the former Blackburn man has been heavily linked with a move back to the Premier League this summer.

The 31-year-old was a target of West Brom, before the exit of Tony Mowbray, but now Birmingham appear to be in the driving seat to land him after Blues chief Alex McLeish confirmed his interest.
