Burke, who is now in the last year of his current contract, is keen to prove his worth but says his first priority is to get back to full match fitness.
"The past four months have been frustrating when you take into account I missed the Uefa Cup final, the Scottish Cup final, the entire summer and the start of the season," Burke told Rangers News.
"So much has happened during that period but all I can do is look forward and put all my focus on getting back into the team.
"It is the last year of my contract but I am not trying to think about that too much right now as it can get on top of you.
"What's meant to be is meant to be and it's just unfortunate that I had to get my ankle surgery when I did.
"These things happen and I am not thinking about my contract situation too much, although I know I'll need to in the future.
"My main priority is to get my fitness and strength back and all I want is to get back in a blue jersey again."
