Rangers youngster John Fleck has reopened contract talks with the club following reports he had earlier rejected a new deal.

It was claimed recently that both Fleck and fellow Gers youngster Danny Wilson had snubbed the offers of new deals put forward by the Scottish champions.

However, an apparent misunderstanding between the club and Fleck's agent has now been sorted out and boss Walter Smith says talks over a new deal for the 18-year-old have resumed.

Smith said: "The players have the same agent and we have found out in John's case that there has been a slight misunderstanding between the representative and the club.

"John wasn't fully aware his agent was negotiating a contract and the negative press was a little hard on him.

"It was reported he had turned down the contract when he actually hadn't, so negotiations are now taking place."
