Nigel Adkins believes he can keep the majority of his Reading squad intact despite relegation from the Premier League this season.
After their drop down to the Championship was confirmed with the recent 0-0 draw with QPR, several Royals players have been linked with an exit this summer.
The likes of goalkeeper Alex McCarthy and captain Jobi McAnuff are among those said to be interesting clubs in the top flight, but Adkins is hopeful many will decide to stay on at the Madejski Stadium.
"We are in a good position," he said. "We are going to do what we want to do at Reading, that is the important thing.
"We have sampled the Premier League this season and we are in the Championship next year. There is the drive to get back into the Premier League and, having learned the lessons of this season, do better."
