Coppell still confident of keeping stars

ReadingSteve Coppell has reiterated his claims that he wants to keep his top players at Reading and says only a good offer will see anyone go.

Striker Dave Kitson has already departed for Premier League new boys Stoke in a £5.5million deal, while James Harper, Nicky Shorey and Stephen Hunt have all been linked with summer moves away from the Championship side. However Coppell says no bids have been forthcoming and he is still hoping to keep everyone at the Madejski Stadium.

He told the club's official website: "Firstly, for anyone to go someone's got to make an offer and quite genuinely we haven't been inundated with them.

"I know that might disappoint players who are wanting to leave but our phone hasn't been ringing off.

"It might well do - all the Premier League teams are beginning to play games and beginning to assess their squads more fully.

"So we may get a late run but at the moment players have to accept that we pay them and I expect them to commit fully to us."
