Reading will be without winger Jimmy Kebe and goalkeeper Adam Federici for this weekend's clash with Manchester United.
Caretaker manager Eamonn Dolan will pick the side that takes to the Old Trafford pitch following the shock sacking of Brian McDermott but he will have to do without the duo.
The Royals have been boosted by the news Alex McCarthy is on the way back to full fitness but the clash against the Red Devils has come too soon for him.
"They (Kebe and Federici) are both injured and won't be taking part this weekend," Dolan told the media in his first press conference ahead of the game.
"Alex McCarthy is back in training but obviously hasn't played a game yet."
Reading will also have to do without striker Pavel Pogrebnyak who serves his final game of a three-match suspension.
