Dundee United have rejected a reported half million pounds bid from Reading for Ireland B striker Noel Hunt.

Terrors boss Craig Levein revealed the latest Royals' bid, which is a significant improvement on the previous £400,000 offer, was turned down immediately.

The 25-year-old former Dunfermline forward, whose brother Stephen has been with the club for four years, scored 17 goals for the Tannadice club last season.

Hunt, who began his career with Shamrock Rovers, has a year of his contract to run with Dundee United.

Reading boss Steve Coppell is looking to replace Dave Kitson after his £5.5m sale to Stoke City.
