Reading winger Jimmy Kebe remains a big doubt for Saturday's clash at home to Everton through injury.
The 28-year-old Mali international missed the first four league games of the season due to a hamstring problem but has been struggling with a tight groin this week and is only rated touch-and-go to be fit to face the Toffees.
He will be given a late fitness test ahead of the game to see if he can make it but Royals boss Brian McDermott might need to have a back-up plan.
Gareth McCleary started last week's 0-0 draw with Norwich so he is the obvious choice, although Hal Robson-Kanu is also pushing for selection.
Elsewhere, Danny Guthrie, Jem Karacan and Alex McCarthy are all on the sidelines. Guthrie has a thigh problem, McCarthy a shoulder injury and Karacan is still struggling with a troublesome knee injury.
Reading are still searching for their first win since returning to the Premier League and McDermott will be hoping it comes this weekend against David Moyes' side.
