Adam Federici is looking ahead to being the Royals number one for the forthcoming season after Marcus Hahnemann's departure.

The Australian has been a number two for the past three seasons but is now looking ahead to being the regular number one at the club and realises it is a big opportunity for him.

He told the Evening Post: "It's a big chance for me.

"It's been a long time coming as I've been on the bench for a while now and played well in patches, but haven't been able to keep in the team.

"Its been frustrating but it's a chance for me to go out there and prove to everyone I'm the number one at this club for many years to come.

"This year all seems to be coming together nicely with the World Cup at the end of it so I know if I perform well I'll get my chance with the World Cup too."
