Reading director of football Nick Hammond is expecting midfielder Jay Tabb to stay and fight for his place despite links with QPR.

Speculation had suggested Tabb was on his way to QPR on loan but Hammond says that is not the case and there has been no contact with the London club.

Hammond told getreading: "We've not had any contact from QPR and Jay is happy here at the moment.

"Of course he wants to play games, but he is part of the first-team squad and fighting for his place like you would expect from a committed professional like Tabby."
