Reading full-back Joseph Mills has set his sights on a first-team place after signing a permanent deal at the Madejski Stadium.
Mills, who had been on loan from Southampton, has just recovered from an ankle injury and is looking to add to the 12 appearances he has made so far this campaign.
The defender was not the only addition to the Royals' squad during the transfer window following the takeover of Russian billionaire Anton Zingarevich and with fresh faces likely to arrive in the summer, Mills knows he must battle to secure his place.
"I wouldn't have signed here if I didn't think I could force my way into the team and see myself here for years to come," he told the Reading Post.
"I sat down with the manager and spoke to him about what's going on, but in my mind I feel that I can progress, force my way into the team and hold down a place even if new players come in.
"That's not a bad thing. New players make the team stronger and more importantly the squad stronger. I have to concentrate, get my head down, work hard, get in the team and try to stay there."
