Reading have announced that they will be parting company with Noel Hunt, Ian Harte, Nicky Shorey, Simon Church and Jay Tabb.
Hunt, Harte, Church and Tabb were all crucial figures in the promotion campaign, helping the side to clinch the title in the Championship.
However. it was expected that Wales international Church and midfielder Tabb would be on their way out after spending most of last term out on loan.
It was thought that the club would be forced to shuffle the pack as they will be looking to try and win an immediate return to the Premier League under new boss Nigel Adkins.
Director of football Nick Hammond said: "Every one of the players leaving this summer has played in a part in the club's recent success and on behalf of the club I would like to wish them all well for the future.
"Both on and off the pitch they have shown great professionalism, set excellent examples to our young players and contributed massively to the team.
"Now both they and the club move to the next stage of their futures and the players will be welcome back at Madejski Stadium any time."
