Manager Nigel Adkins praised the 'phenomenal workrate' of his players following Reading's 2-0 win at Wycombe.
Pavel Pogrebnyak and Jake Taylor scored the goals as the Royals continued their preparations for the forthcoming Sky Bet Championship campaign in Buckinghamshire on Saturday.
"I thought the workrate of the players was phenomenal, and their movement in baking hot conditions," said Adkins.
"We created numerous opportunities, and the players worked extremely hard. I'm very pleased with the players' fitness and where they are at this moment in time.
"I was pleased Jake Taylor scored, his workrate and enthusiasm was first class, he deserved to score and could have had a double hat-trick!
"Big Pav scored a goal at the far post which we're really pleased about and is something we've looked at. That's two in three games for him now.
"And Ryan Edwards linking up the play was phenomenal with his movement, and he could have scored himself.
"Nick Blackman came on and rattled the crossbar, then the goalkeeper made an unbelievable save from his header. Again that's something he's worked on, to use his body in the right manner to head the ball at the far post. There's a lot of great stuff going on at the training ground, all going in the same direction.
"The whole team ethos is there, the workrate and the desire to pass, move and penetrate. We had an array of passing on show.
"Then with 15 minutes to go, we made a number of planned changes. They all looked very assured and confident, having played last night at Borehamwood as well. We are one club, it's a young squad but a hungry one."
