Zenit St Petersburg are keen to take Pavel Pogrebnyak back to Russia following reports he will leave Reading in the summer.

The Royals are facing a huge battle to stay in the Premier League this season, but even if they do, reports still claim the striker will push for a move away from the Madejski Stadium.

The 29-year-old has struggled to settle with Reading since arriving from Stuttgart at the start of the season and has only chipped in with five goals as the club have battled to beat the drop.

If relegation is confirmed then Reading will be keen to get his £65,000 a week off the wage bill and Zenit have the finances in place to take him back to his homeland.

The player's agent recently admitted all talks are on hold until the end of the season and Pogrebnyak remains committed while the Royals fight for Premier League survival.
