Strike target rules out move

Reading target Charlie Austin has dismissed rumours linking him with a move and says he is staying at Burnley for now.

The striker has been a revelation for the Clarets this season and has already fired home 16 Championship goals so it is no surprise to see him linked with a move to the Premier League.

Royals boss Brian McDermott has been linked as he targets a new striker in January, while Newcastle and Aston Villa are also keeping tabs on the former Swindon man.

However, Austin says he is not thinking about leaving and is ready to stay at Turf Moor under the leadership of new manager Sean Dyche.

"I'm here to play for Burnley football club," he told talkSPORT. "I'm enjoying my football at the moment and I long to stay here.

"Everything's going really well for me personally but, like I've said many times before in other interviews, without my team I wouldn't be able to get in these positions to score the goals."
