Jake Taylor hopes to emulate the successes of other Reading academy graduates when his chance comes to shine at the Madejski Stadium.

Taylor, currently on loan at Exeter, believes there are great opportunities for progression at the Berkshire outfit - pointing to the examples of several of the Royals' current squad who learnt their trade in the youth ranks before impressing in the first team.

He is confident everything is set up for him to succeed for his parent club in the not so distant future.

"Being a young player at a club like Reading is a really positive thing," he told Press Association Sport. "There are lots of great players there, like Pearcey (Alex Pearce), Simon Church and Hal Robson-Kanu, who have come through as youngsters and you can see what they have gone on to do.

"I can look at them and think that they have gone through the academy, and I have come through the academy, so even if I'm a few years behind them they're good role models for me to show me where I can get to.

"There's a big future at Reading. The boys are doing really well and it's an exciting time with the new owner. Hopefully we can get promoted and be playing where the club deserves to be playing."
