Hull maintained their unbeaten start to Super League and went to the top of the table with a tight win against Huddersfield on Friday.
Brett Hodgson gave the home side hope when he drew first blood for the Giants, but Tom Briscoe and Richard Horne were quick to reply for Hull.
Joe Walsh brought Huddersfield back into the game with a try, only for Jamie Thackray to score to give Hull an 18-10 half-time advantage.
Kevin Brown crossed the line after the restart but Kirk Yeaman's try for the visitors ended their challenge, and David Hodgson's late score was mere consolation.
Hull coach Richard Agar warned his side against complacency ahead of a long season and picked out Richard Horne for praise after the 20-24 win.
He said: "We all know it's a marathon, a long old season, but particularly after a tough year last year and an off season when people were probably a bit jittery, we can be fairly happy with the way we're travelling."
He added: "Richard Horne has a talismanic presence for us.
"There is a real freshness about his game. He's in really good shape physically and mentally and it's reflected in his performances."
