John Kear is convinced Wakefield Wildcats can make make giant Super League strides at their new 12,000-seater stadium.
Plans for a new £19m Newmarket Community Stadium on the site of a former colliery, which will form part of a development of offices, restaurants and a hotel, were unveiled on Monday and Kear says it is exciting times for the club.
Wakefield have been at Belle Vue since 1878 but the ground does not meet current Super League licence criteria and 55-year-old coach Kear, who was one of the front-runners to replace England boss Tony Smith, believes fans can look forward to a new era.
He said: "I want to be the last coach at Belle Vue and the first at the new stadium - that will be a really nice thing to put on my CV.
"Also I was friends with David Topliss, who had seven years as coach here and I want to better that.
"This is a massive step forward for the club. We're doing everything we can on the field and this demonstrates we're now doing it off the field."
