Ton-up Tickle ready for big test

R LeagueHull FC's Danny Tickle says Saturday's Challenge Cup final clash with St Helens is the biggest match of his career.

The 25-year-old second-row forward is preparing to face the team he supported as a boy, but will go in with the belief that Hull have taken Saints close in the past.

But with St Helens carrying a stunning record of 20 straight wins into the game, Tickle admits that he and his team-mates are going to need to produce something special to stop them winning the tournament for the third year in a row.

"It's the biggest game I have ever played in and that goes for a lot of the team," he said.

"I might never get an opportunity like this again. Everybody knows what St Helens are capable of and their form speaks for itself. They are a team that you can't underestimate, but we've got a good run of luck against them, we enjoy playing against them and I'm sure that if we perform on the day we're capable of beating them.

"I used to watch them on the telly in finals when I was younger, as me and all my family were and are fans. But that won't be the case this weekend."

Tickle is just three goals shy of knocking over the century for the season and is hoping that his accuracy in front of the posts can help lead his side to a second cup success in four years.

He said: "I'll need my kicking boots but that doesn't bother me. If we score the tries then hopefully I can add the two. I'm not too bothered about that. I've always been a goal-kicker."
