Andrew fumes at ref inconsistency

R UnionEngland's stand-in manager Rob Andrew was unhappy with the way the match with the All Blacks was refereed on Saturday.

The tourists lost 37-20 in Auckland at the weekend, with New Zealand running in four tries to England's two in a dominant performance from a new-look Kiwi outfit.

Andrew was clearly upset by a number of issues surrounding referee Nigel Owens, and felt that Kiwi skipper Richie McCaw escaped censure for identical offences around the fringes that saw two of his stars take a trip to the sin-bin.

"I'm going to give Richie McCaw an England shirt so when he comes in on our side he's got a white shirt on," said Andrew.

And the former England fly-half also defended his side's tactics at the scrum, after criticism from opposite number Graham Henry.

"Most of the collapses were actually on our ball, we're not very keen on collapsing our own scrum," he said. "We weren't happy with the way the scrums were managed and there are some issues which (scrum coach) Graham (Rowntree) and John Wells (forwards coach) are looking at in terms of the engagement."
