Aussies stun All Blacks

R UnionAustralia continued their unbeaten run under coach Robbie Deans with a sensational 34-19 Tri-Nations win over New Zealand.

The Wallabies came out of the traps flying, scoring an early penalty before Lote Tuqiri burst through three tackles to set up debutant Ryan Cross, starting in place of injured captain Stirling Mortlock.

The All Blacks hit back through Mils Muliaina in the 23rd minute, who broke down the right before capitalising on a fortuitous bounce to touch down.

Adam Ashley-Cooper put a lovely grubber kick through which was kicked on by Tuqiri, enabling Peter Hynes to cross over with Matt Giteau adding the extras.

New Zealand though scored two tries either side of the interval to take the lead. Hooker Andrew Hore drove through three tacklers to cut the deficit before Dan Carter and Ma'a Nonu combining well to put Andy Ellis over.

However, Australia again hit back with flanker Rocky Elsom charging through a massive hole in the New Zealand defence after sustained pressure to regain the lead.

Giteau added the conversion and then a drop goal, before second-rower Horwill ploughed over late on to complete a memorable win.
