England 'found wanting' according to Borthwick

R UnionEngland captain Steve Borthwick has admitted that England have been 'found wanting' in the two Tests against New Zealand.

England suffered another heavy defeat against the All Blacks, losing 44-12 in Christchurch, after a difficult week where the side have been dogged by allegations of sexual assault.

England suffered their second ever worst margin of defeat against New Zealand and captain Steve Borthwick admitted the side had lacked precision when it counted but believed they had put in an "outstanding effort".

"You can have a great week's training but it comes down to the 80 minutes," said Borthwick

"The last two games we've been found wanting against very strong opponents."

England failed to capitalise on a number of opportunities in the game as New Zealand ran out comfortable winners to record a comprehensive 2-0 Test series victory.

"We've got to credit the All Blacks," Borthwick added. "Whenever they saw a try-scoring opportunity, got close to the line, they took those opportunities.

"We had some opportunities in the first half. We didn't take them and ultimately that cost us.

"We were a long way away at half-time. It could have been a lot closer. But I'd like to credit the England boys, the way they stuck at it. We know our precision let us down but it was outstanding effort."
