RFU launch investigation over player misconduct

R UnionThe Rugby Football Union has launched a full investigation into allegations of player misconduct on the tour of New Zealand.

Allegations of serious sexual assault have been made against a number of England players following a drinking session after the 37-20 defeat to the All Blacks in the first Test on June 14.

The RFU's disciplinary officer Jeff Blackett will conduct the inquiry, run separately from police investigations, and says he will reveal his findings as soon as possible.

However, he intends to interview every member of the squad in a process that could take a number of weeks.

The four players involved, who were named by a national newspaper earlier this week, have denied the claims in the 'strongest terms', while there has been no formal complaint made to the police in Auckland.
