AC Milan are in talks with Manchester City over a move for striker Mario Balotelli, reports in Italy have suggested.
The 22-year-old has found himself on the fringes of the starting XI at the Etihad Stadium this season, as his fractious relationship with manager Roberto Mancini continues.
Balotelli has on a number of occasions been linked with a return to Italy, having made his name with Milan's city-rivals FC Internazionale Milano at the San Siro.
City assistant boss David Platt was keen to play down speculation regarding the Italy international on Monday but the Serie A giants are believed to be in talks with the Premier League champions.
Platt said: "We've three days left before the deadline, but I haven't heard anything, to be honest. It's speculation."
