Pescara have confirmed Cristiano Bergodi as their new manager following Giovanni Stroppa's resignation after the defeat to Siena.

The Dolphins have won just three of their first 13 matches in Serie A and find themselves in the relegation zone after taking four points from the last 21 available.

Saturday's clash with fellow strugglers Siena was seen as a golden opportunity to get back on track but a 1-0 defeat was the final straw for Stroppa, who has come under increasing pressure in recent weeks.

Pescara have acted quickly to announce his replacement, handing former defender Bergodi his first job in Serie A in preference to Franco Colomba.

Bergodi spent five years at the Stadio Adriatico as a player and has been given a deal until the end of the season.
