Sheffield United boss Kevin Blackwell remains confident he can keep Matthew Kilgallon, despite interest in him from several sides.

The former Leeds United defender has been heavily linked with Birmingham City, Burnley and Wigan in recent weeks and it looked at one point that the 25-year-old was heading for the exit door at Bramall Lane.

However, Birmingham's bid to sign Roger Johnson is set to go through so that will end their interest in the centre-back and the Blades have yet to receive any firm enquiries for the player.

Blackwell will do all he can to keep the defender, who he sees as a vital member of his starting line-up as he looks to guide the club up into the top flight next season.
