Sheffield United defender Jonathan Fortune insists he is ready to play his part now he is over Achilles trouble.

The free signing from Charlton has taken his time to force his way into the Blades XI but will be needed with Matthew Kilgallon now at Sunderland and Marcel Seip and Andrew Taylor out injured.

And Fortune declared: "To go from not playing to effectively three games in eight days is tough on the legs, but I will stretch off and see the physios to make sure everything ticks over ready for training."
