Kevin Blackwell plans to bolster his Blades squad with some Premier League loans when the window reopens next week.

The Bramall Lane boss is on the lookout for a midfielder after the eleventh-hour transfer deadline day sale of midfielder Michael Tonge to Stoke City for £3million.

Ex-United star Michael Brown has been linked with a return to the club as he is currently out of the first-team picture at Wigan Athletic.

"I'm looking at bringing someone in from the Premier League," Blackwell told the Sheffield Star.

"That's the quality we're looking at. We'd certainly like to get one player by the time our next game comes around, but if we can get two then it's something we'd certainly be interested in doing.

"We'll have to see what happens, but we know the positions where we want to strengthen.

"What I'm looking at is getting someone here until December. That's the period I'd like to get someone for."
