Laws admits transfer search

Sheff WedSheffield Wednesday boss Brian Laws says the international break has come at the right time but is still targeting a loan signing.

The Owls boss has seen his squad ripped apart by injury but hopes the two-week break will enable some of his star players to return to fitness. Even if they do return, Laws knows he is still short of bodies and is currently exploring the loan market.

"For us in particular the international break is a blessing because it will allow the lads like Richard Wood and Peter Gilbert to get back fit," Laws revealed.

"We missed them (at Plymouth) and then Tommy Spurr has gone down with an ankle injury that could put him out for weeks. We have got to look at this very closely and see if we can bring somebody in.

"Every other area - midfield and up front - we seem to have cover but defensively we are really stretched. They were all attackers on the bench and that in itself tells a story."
