Sheffield Wednesday have handed a trial to Ryan France following the midfielder's release from Hull City.

The 28-year-old is available on a free transfer after being released by the Tigers at the end of the season and Owls boss Brian Laws is keen to take a good look at him with a view to wrapping up a deal.

France will spend the next week training with the rest of the Wednesday squad and Laws is hoping he shines.

"Ryan is a hard working player who has played in each of the four professional divisions of English football," Laws told the club' website."He is also a Sheffield lad so I am very pleased to be able to see how he performs on trial this week.

"If he impresses then we may be in a position to offer him a deal at Hillsborough. It is an important week with the players returning to training so we will have a clearer picture of what could be at our disposal."
