Sheffield Wednesday boss Brian Laws is awaiting developments after offering new deals to Richard Wood and Tommy Spurr.

The defensive duo are both set to enter the final year of their respective deals at Hillsborough and Laws is understandably keen to tie the pair down to fresh terms.

Chief executive Nick Parker told the Star: "We are not a selling club. Of course we want to keep all our best young players.

"We have a core of young really good players and around that I think what Brian Laws has been trying to do is bring in a bit of experience.

"Darren Purse, (32) Tommy Miller (30) and Michael Gray (34) are slightly older, more experienced and a bit more level headed.

"He [Laws] has been bringing in experience while trying to keep the youth and enthusiasm that we have there and I think it's quite cool really."
