Star eyes speedy return

Sheff WedSheffield Wednesday defender Tommy Spurr is facing four weeks out but hopes to return ahead of schedule.

The young defender has become the latest player to join the walking wounded at Hillsborough after damaging his ankle against Plymouth last week and early suggestions are he will be out for a month.

Boss Brian Laws hopes he will be back sooner and Spurr also has his eyes on a speedy return.

"It could be around four weeks, I don't know if it will be that long. I'm hoping it will be less," the 21-year-old revealed. "In my head I'll be back quicker. We'll just have to wait and see.

"On the positive side, I won't miss a game this week because of the international break, so at least it didn't happen right in the middle of a busy period."
