Steve Watson has vowed to be fit for Sheffield Wednesday's game against Watford after struggling with a knock since pre-season.

The 33-year-old has played just the one game so far this season but is keen to use the international break to get back to full fitness for the Hornets game.

"I've got this break now to get myself fully-fit. Hopefully I'll be fit for the Watford game (on September 13), no excuses," he said. "Since (the pre-season trip to) Holland I've been struggling with back and hip problems, but the gaffer has been great with me.

"We haven't got a lot of experience in the squad, there's only really me, Deon Burton and James O'Connor, so we do need everybody to lend a hand."
