Bertrand could hold key to Shaw future

Southampton could be willing to sell Luke Shaw to Chelsea this summer if they are offered Ryan Bertrand in part-exchange.

The 18-year-old left-back, who worked his way through the Saints academy and has made over 50 first-team appearances for the south coast outfit, has been attracting the attentions of several top clubs including Manchester United and Chelsea.

United looked set to make a £25million bid for Shaw in January, but the Saints held on to one of their key assets. However a summer swoop is poised to be forthcoming with Chelsea set to make a counter offer.

Shaw was a self-confessed Blues fan as a child and might be keen to make the switch to Stamford Bridge, especially if United fail to qualify for the Champions League.

And it is believed that 24-year-old England international Bertrand, who is currently on loan at Aston Villa until the end of this season, could be offered to the Saints to hep fill the void which Shaw's departure would create.
