Peter Reid has been linked as a possible new Southampton boss, should the Jackson group beat Pinnacle to a St Mary's takeover.

The former Sunderland and Leeds boss is said to be the man at the top of the list for the Jackson consortium, although Pinnacle remain in pole position to take ownership of the club.

Reid is currently in charge of the Thailand national team and although he says no contact has been made, he indicated that the role with Saints would interest him.

He told the Southern Daily Echo: "I know nothing about it, but if a club like Saints were interested, I'd look at all situations."

Meanwhile, staff at the club have not been paid for a second month due to the ongoing takeover saga, although Pinnacle's managing director Tony Lynam says a 'contingency plan' could lead to them receiving their pay for June.
