Vegard Forren is pushing to make his Southampton debut after working on his fitness since arriving from Molde a month ago.
The 25-year-old Norwegian central defender arrived at St Mary's just before the January transfer window slammed shut but he has not yet made his debut because he was lacking in match fitness.
However, following four weeks on the south coast under the watchful eye of coach Mauricio Pochettino, Forren is believed to be pressing hard to be handed his Premier League debut.
Whether Pochettino will risk the player, who was linked with Manchester United and Fulham before he joined the Saints, in the weekend's massive home game against bottom-of-the-table QPR remains to be seen.
However, if the result is going the Saints' way there is chance that he could be pitched into the game off the bench but if not against the R's then in an upcoming top-flight game.
