Hammers look to Saints ace

West Ham are set to make a summer move for Southampton striker Rickie Lambert after failing to land him in January.

Sam Allardyce made a move for the burly striker who has netted 11 times for the Saints this season, making him the highest scoring Englishman in the Premier League.

West Ham are expected to lose the services of loanee Andy Carroll in the summer as his deal comes to an end so they need to add to their frontline and Lambert is apparently the target.

The player himself has said he is happy at Saints and wants to finish his career on the south coast, but if they were to drop back down to the Championship then the Hammers may make their move.
